Session 4 Week 3-4- Year 5
Ancient Civilization’s
For the past couple of weeks we have continued to dive a bit deeper into what Archeologist have discovered in ancient civilizations! A few of the civilizations they have learned about include:
Chinese- We discovered the history about the Chinese Opera and they then created a mask of their own. We discovered the meanings behind some of the colors used in their make up and costumes! Blue=Warrior Red= Bravery & Loyalty
Aztec’s- They learned about the double headed serpent that was a representation of new birth to the Aztec’s.
Mayan’s- We launched about their way of life, their structures, and they each made their own god’s eye craft out of popsicle sticks and yarn.
Hero Highlights
Henry and August mastered all numbers -10 and will move on to learnings #’s -100.
Campbell and Adele have mastered all #’s-100 and will move on to learning place value!
Evie and Isaac have mastered all 9 sight word list this past week! They have been learning the sight words through memorization by practicing at home and reading often.
These heroes are smashing their Lexia goals and keep leveling up! Way to work hard and stay focused!
Marina is working double time while learning to write in English at school daily and then going home to practice her Russian writing and reading! Way to persevere and stay determined!
Thank you to these heroes for working together to show respect to our country and flag as they led us in the pledge this week!
A Blast from the Past….
This week Mr. Josh was caught on camera sneaking around the Time Machine that appeared in one of our rooms. The heroes watched as he went into the time machine from the cameras… They then went on a journey to find the Time Machine and discover that Mr. Josh was not there anymore, but Alexander the Great appeared! He read a speech to the heroes that embarked on his hero’s journey and delivered gold to them! Stay tuned for next week’s blog to see what other visitors from the past might appear in the studio!
