Session 4- Week 1- Year 5
Can you dig it?
This session the heroes are learning about archeologist and paleontologist! Ask your hero to model for you what moves we came up with to differentiate the two. The first week back the heroes were each given their own fossil brick to dig into! They each received their own fossil from their bricks. Some of the bricks were harder than others to un cover. We were able to talk about the emotions that might come along with being a paleontologist or archeologist; such as frustration, disappointment, excitement, and everyone agreed that you must be patient!
Sawyer found a cow’s mouth bone at the beach. We were able to discuss how this is the first step of animals bones breaking down into the earth and how eventually if buried for long enough time the minerals could form a fossil into this shape! (I promise we washed hands really well!)
Cookie Excavation
This week the heroes were challenged to a cookie excavation! They were given a sheet to separate the dust from the cookie and their findings (the chocolate chips.) The challenge was to get the chocolate chips out with out breaking the cookie using a tooth pick.
Meet your Squad
At the beginning of each session the heroes meet their squads and then come up with their name! They do group activities in their squads and studio maintenance.
Brain Aerobics & Highlights
Calum, Savannah, and Zachariah have mastered more of their sight word list!
Each week the heroes are given 4 letters to focus on for handwriting uppercase and lowercase for proper form! This week it was crip & CRIP.
