Spark Blog Session 1- Week 1- Year 5

Welcome Back Spark Heroes

This week we kicked off week one of our building the tribe session! We spent time getting to know one another, learning new processes, and guard rails in the studio. The heroes kicked off the first day with a studio tour and discussions how we can keep everyone safe while in the studio. Throughout the week hero’s were able to share their family photo with their fellow studio mates and share what they love about their family, we will continue having the heroes share into next week as well.

“The Kissing Hand”

Love and Reassurance: At its core, "The Kissing Hand" is a story about the powerful bond between a parent and child. It reassures young readers that no matter where they are or what they are doing, their parents' love is always with them.

Facing Fear: The book addresses the fear and anxiety that many children experience when they are separated from their caregivers. It shows them that it's normal to feel this way and offers a practical solution for managing those feelings.

Independence: As Chester learns to use his "kissing hand," he also gains a sense of independence and self-confidence. The book encourages children to take small steps toward becoming more self-reliant.

Squads

In the world we live in today, squads have become more than a mere group of individuals. They have evolved into powerful bonds that unleash the true potential of teamwork and collaboration. This past year we were able to witness the effect of squads on our learners' lives, showcasing the immense importance of these groups and the symbolic significance of their squad flags.
Squads in the Spark Studio consist of heroes with different talents, skills, and passions. These small, tight-knit communities allow learners to connect deeply with one another, support, encouragement, and accountability. Within squads, friendships blossom, trust develops, and a sense of belonging flourishes. Together, they embark on a shared journey of growth and learning. Where does JOY come from?

It is our question of the year to focus on throughout all of our sessions! This week we asked the heroes and majority of their answers led to being outside and playing is when they feel the most JOY. So check out the JOY on their faces from playtime!
